Summit - “It’s all about cutting taxes, maintaining and creating jobs”, said Dr. P. Kelly Hatfield, Republican candidate for Congress representing New Jersey’s 7th District. “It is imperative that the Federal, State and local governments recognize that small businesses are the back bone of local economies and are a necessary part of the bigger economic picture.” Recognizing that the proposed bi-partisan Federal Economic Stimulus Package is purely a short term "shot in the arm solution , Hatfield says, "that is not enough to grow the economy." Congress needs a long range plan and they should start with re-authorizing the Bush Tax Cuts. The largest GDP since 2000 took place after the 2003 tax cuts which made immediate and long term reductions on investment and marginal income tax rates."
Hatfield said that protecting and nurturing the interests of small businesses here in the US is a win-win situation all around. “When we provide entrepreneurs with the tools necessary to create local jobs we revitalize our struggling downtowns making the municipalities more attractive to additional small businesses and families.” As a long term member of the Common Counsel and a key player in the successful revitalization of Summit’s business district, Dr. Kelly Hatfield will bring that proven leadership and hands on experience to Washington as an advocate for small business.
